"Scotty" passes

Star Trek fans are mourning the passing of James Doohan, better known as Scotty on the classic Star Trek series and subsequent movies.

Something I didn't know until I read this article, Doohan was a soldier at Juno on D-Day:

At 19, James escaped the turmoil at home by joining the Canadian army, becoming a lieutenant in artillery. He was among the Canadian forces that landed on Juno Beach on D-Day. “The sea was rough,” he recalled. “We were more afraid of drowning than the Germans.”

Well, Scotty. Rest in Peace. It looks like you finally got to say "Beam Me Up, Lord."
