Today's American Minute -- July 22, 2005
"A baby is God's opinion that the world should go on," wrote poet Carl Sandburg, who died this day, July 22, 1967. Sandburg received the Pulitzer Prize and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. His two volume history of Abraham Lincoln received such acclaim that he was asked to address a joint session of Congress on the 150th anniversary of Lincoln's birthday. Carl Sandburg wrote: "I see America not in the setting sun of a black night of despair.... I see America in the crimson light of a rising sun fresh from the burning, creative hand of God." -- www.AmericanMinute.com
