DoD Release #: 699-05 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of a sailor who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom
Petty Officer 2nd Class Matthew G. Axelson, 29, of Cupertino, Calif, died while conducting counter-terrorism operations in Kunar province, Afghanistan. Coalition forces located the service member while conducting a combat search and rescue operation July 10 in Kunar province. Axelson was assigned to SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team ONE, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

DoD Releases #: 698-05 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of two Marines who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Staff Sgt. Joseph P. Goodrich, 32, of Allegheny, Pa.
Lance Cpl. Ryan J. Kovacicek, 22, of Washington, Pa.
Both Marines died July 10 from enemy indirect fire while conducting combat operations in Hit, Iraq. They were assigned to Marine Forces Reserve’s 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Moundsville, W.Va. During Operation Iraqi Freedom their unit was attached to Regimental Combat Team-2, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).
